Are your relationships typical?

By | Blog, Family | No Comments

Do you struggle to enjoy your marriage? Are your work relationships suffering? Do you have a child that seems impossible to communicate with?

The good news is that there is hope.

I recently heard someone say, “Awareness creates the opportunity for change to occur”. I love that. Awareness is only the first step. Maybe you are becoming aware to the stress and dysfunction in your relationships. This is a good first step. But you must move to action.

If you are like many people, you’ve tried to change the other person in the relationship. You’ve sulked, pouted, avoided conflict, manipulated, and numerous other ways to change the dynamic in your relationships. But the result is very little change in that relationship. So what do you do?

I would like to invite you to come to the Uncommon message series this Sunday at 9:30 or 11 AM. The goal of this series is to provide you with practical tools to give you hope, move your relationships to uncommonly good, and bring lasting change. We will unpack what loving someone really is, how to live out commitment, ways to move communication up a level, the best ways to deal with conflict, and how to be a positive influence.

Choose from one of our two service times at 9:30 AM and 11 AM. You will enjoy dynamic worship, practical Bible teaching, and the ability to stay anonymous as long as you’d like. Plus your children from 6 weeks to 5th grade will have fun in a safe learning environment appropriate for their age.

Bring the entire family this Sunday and begin moving your relationships from typical to uncommon!

See you Sunday!

Happy New Year!

By | Blog, Family | No Comments

Happy New Year to you and yours from all of us at HISplace Family Church!

As we begin the new year many of us think about making some changes in our lives.

So we decide to make some New Year’s Resolutions! It’s why the local gyms are virtually empty in October and packed in January. The problem is most us think more about starting those resolutions than we do about keeping them.

This month at HISplace, we want to help you now only start those new habits but keep them as you work to improve your life.

So I want to invite you to make these three activities part of your January 2017:

A new message series, Free Indeed, beginning Sunday, January 1, 2017 will focus on helping you get free of the stuff that makes life a spiritual mess. We’ll unpack some keys to staying free from areas of bondage and struggle throughout the month. We invite you to come and bring your family and friends.

Second, our annual 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer from Sunday, January 8 through Saturday, January 28, 2017. We set aside this time at the first of each year to seek God and minimize the distractions that would keep us from hearing God and serving Him in the New Year! We invite you to be part of our special times of worship and prayer as follows:

– Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6-7 AM

– Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 PM

– Saturdays from 9-10 AM

If you need additional information on how to fast, please go to

Third, starting about mid-January you’ll be able to see our Spring Small Groups on the website and choose one to be a part of this Spring. The information will be on our Small Groups page when available. Small Groups are a great way to meet people, grow in God, and make friends.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10 AM!

Back to school season and the beginning of school can be a challenging time in many ways.

There are the extra expenses, the clothing and supplies, plus getting the family in the flow of new schedules.

So beginning Sunday, October 9 at 10 AM, we will be sharing a series called Life.Money.Hope. Life doesn’t always go as planned, and we often face unexpected highs and lows. God’s Word shows us a better way that gives us hope no matter our circumstances.

In this series we will look at how to live beyond the numbers and how to get past tough financial challenges.. Financial experts often provide great, practical advice. God’s Word gives principles that can help take our lives to whole new levels of hope.

This is a great series to attend as it will be encouraging, practical and you will leave with specific steps you can take.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10 AM!

You Asked

By | Blog, Church Life, Family, Spiritual Growth | No Comments

Sometimes it seems like we are about to drown in our challenges!

Although there are often no easy solutions, we believe the Bible does provide very practical insights that can help us live every day a bit better! So back on Easter Sunday we asked those in attendance to tell us the they would most like to hear about in the fall. The result was the You Asked series beginning on August 28 at our new service time of 10 AM.

In this series each week we will take a look at challenging topics such as family essentials, copying with loss, forgiveness, dealing with difficult people, finding God’s will and handling stress.

This is a great series to attend as it will be encouraging, practical and you will leave with specific steps you can take in each area.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10 AM!

Do You Struggle With Worry?

By | Family, Spiritual Growth | No Comments

Worry seems to be a normal part of life for most of us! There is so much going on in our world, our community, and in our families. It may be that there are a lot of good things happening in your life right now. That’s awesome, yet many of us still worry about it.

For others, there is a lot of negative happening. The pressure of decisions, choices, troubling situations can get us worrying. For some worry is crowding out the joy and fun of life!

In fact, for some, worry is taking over their life. Some of the signs of high levels of worry are loss of sleep, loss of appetite, extra conflict in relationships…plus many more. Excessive worry can cause our lives to spin out of control as we struggle to make decisions in a timely manner and cope with life!

Did you know that God cares so much about us that He provided instructions in how to overcome worry? One piece of the solution is to look at who you are trusting for your future. If we depend on our own abilities and talents, we are limited. God has a better way!

I want to invite you to come this Sunday at 10:30 AM as we look into the Bible for God’s instructions on overcoming worry.

Pray First Additional Small 246x151The truths we share are part of our #PrayFirst message series.

You can begin to overcome worry and get victory over tormenting thoughts!

Invite a friend to come with you!

See you Sunday!

Integrated Life

Is your life integrated?

Yesterday, our church had the privilege of hosting the monthly Spring Klein Chamber Lunch and Learn event. During this event, the importance of an integrated marketing strategy was emphasized. This got me to thinking about our personal lives.

Often due to the challenges and pace of life, we seek to compartmentalize our life. We, in my opinion, incorrectly assume that one area of our life has little impact on the rest of our lives. I can do ____ without any impact in the other areas of life. Not true. In fact, our life is a system and every part of our life impacts every other part of our life.

For example, if your body is healthy then your whole life benefits. If your mind, will and emotions are healthy then every part of your life benefits. I would submit to you that your spiritual condition also impacts the rest of your life…now and for eternity.

So, if you need to get healthy in your spiritual life, I invite you to come this Sunday for our 10:30 AM service. This Sunday’s message is “I Love My Children”. We will be learning to love our children in ways that free God to do amazing things their lives.

If you missed last Sunday’s message, “I Love My Family”, you can listen to it on the media page.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Doug
