Fight With God’s Word

When the devil talks about God, he lies.  When the devil talks about you, he accuses.  How do we fight back? We fight with God’s word.  When we feel rejected, like we are not good enough, or we feel condemned, that is the enemy speaking to us, and the enemy is a liar!  God’s Word, the Bible, is full of truth. We are God’s children, His chosen ones, and He loves us more than anything. All the devil wants is for us not to believe that, so he attacks.  God’s children, you and me, are in a daily battle with the enemy because his only goal is to keep us far from God. The thing is, we may not even realize it. All we know is that we do not have peace or that we feel down on ourselves.  But God has already given us his greatest weapon against the enemy – His Word. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow.  It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

When the enemy attacks, we can turn to the Bible.  Speak the Word out loud. Let it seep into your heart.  Believe God’s promises and His truths. Take those negative thoughts captive, reject them, and believe the word of God.

When you feel defeated, 1 John 4:4 says, “But you belong to God, my dear children.  You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”

When you feel afraid, John 14:27 says, “I am leaving you with a gift— peace of mind and heart.  And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

When you feel rejected, Psalm 27:10 says, “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.”

When you feel broken, Romans 8:18 says, “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.”

When you feel lost, Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord.  ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’”

When you feel worried, 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

When you feel discouraged, Isaiah 41:10 says, “Do not be afraid, for I am with you.  Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

Whatever lie the enemy is trying to make you believe, there are scriptures that tell the truth.  Read them out loud, carry them with you, memorize them. Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”  When we have hidden God’s Word in our hearts, the enemy cannot win.
