Think serving God is a bunch of rules?

By | Blog | No Comments

Do you view serving God and participating in a local church as just a bunch of rules?

Sadly many people do. Most of the Christians and Christ-followers they know act as if serving God is a duty. See Christ-followers without joy, striving, struggling to please an angry God.

In fact, I was that way too. I had the privilege of growing up in a family that served God and attended church several times a week. But somehow I began to associate my short-comings and inability to often do the right thing to God. As if He was angry and ready to play “wack-a-mole” with me if I messed up.

The problem was I didn’t really have a clear grasp of God’s nature. The Bible says “God is love”. He has a lot of traits but He is love. The truth is He loved me when I was the most unlovable. Amazing! On my worst day God had already decided He loved me so much that He sent Jesus. Truly incredible.

If you struggle with thinking that serving God is all rules and no life, you may get a lot out of our current message series, Choosing Freedom Every Day. You can listen to this series over on the Messages page but we’d love for you to come to HISplace at 9:30 or 11 AM during the end of April and all of May.

You will enjoy dynamic worship, practical Bible teaching, and the ability to stay anonymous as long as you’d like. Plus your children from 6 weeks to 5th grade will have fun in an engaging learning environment appropriate for their age.

Bring the entire family this Sunday and begin to understand the freedom you can have to serve God!

See you Sunday!

Could God be interested in me?

By | Blog | No Comments

Do you feel like you have not done enough for God to do anything great for you?

You are normal. You see so many miracles in the Bible but you may feel like “what about me?”.

The reality is that God desires to have you experience His very best. He is interested in you. He cares about your problems and challenges. In fact, the people of HISplace Family Church think you matter too.

So how can you move forward?

I would like to invite you to come to the Miracles message series this Sunday at 9:30 or 11 AM. The goal of this series is to help each of us see that God still does miracles and that He can work in our lives, if we’ll just let Him.

Choose from one of our two service times at 9:30 AM and 11 AM. You will enjoy dynamic worship, practical Bible teaching, and the ability to stay anonymous as long as you’d like. Plus your children from 6 weeks to 5th grade will have fun in an engaging learning environment appropriate for their age.

Bring the entire family this Sunday and begin moving your relationships from typical to uncommon!

See you Sunday!

Are your relationships typical?

By | Blog, Family | No Comments

Do you struggle to enjoy your marriage? Are your work relationships suffering? Do you have a child that seems impossible to communicate with?

The good news is that there is hope.

I recently heard someone say, “Awareness creates the opportunity for change to occur”. I love that. Awareness is only the first step. Maybe you are becoming aware to the stress and dysfunction in your relationships. This is a good first step. But you must move to action.

If you are like many people, you’ve tried to change the other person in the relationship. You’ve sulked, pouted, avoided conflict, manipulated, and numerous other ways to change the dynamic in your relationships. But the result is very little change in that relationship. So what do you do?

I would like to invite you to come to the Uncommon message series this Sunday at 9:30 or 11 AM. The goal of this series is to provide you with practical tools to give you hope, move your relationships to uncommonly good, and bring lasting change. We will unpack what loving someone really is, how to live out commitment, ways to move communication up a level, the best ways to deal with conflict, and how to be a positive influence.

Choose from one of our two service times at 9:30 AM and 11 AM. You will enjoy dynamic worship, practical Bible teaching, and the ability to stay anonymous as long as you’d like. Plus your children from 6 weeks to 5th grade will have fun in a safe learning environment appropriate for their age.

Bring the entire family this Sunday and begin moving your relationships from typical to uncommon!

See you Sunday!

Happy New Year!

By | Blog, Family | No Comments

Happy New Year to you and yours from all of us at HISplace Family Church!

As we begin the new year many of us think about making some changes in our lives.

So we decide to make some New Year’s Resolutions! It’s why the local gyms are virtually empty in October and packed in January. The problem is most us think more about starting those resolutions than we do about keeping them.

This month at HISplace, we want to help you now only start those new habits but keep them as you work to improve your life.

So I want to invite you to make these three activities part of your January 2017:

A new message series, Free Indeed, beginning Sunday, January 1, 2017 will focus on helping you get free of the stuff that makes life a spiritual mess. We’ll unpack some keys to staying free from areas of bondage and struggle throughout the month. We invite you to come and bring your family and friends.

Second, our annual 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer from Sunday, January 8 through Saturday, January 28, 2017. We set aside this time at the first of each year to seek God and minimize the distractions that would keep us from hearing God and serving Him in the New Year! We invite you to be part of our special times of worship and prayer as follows:

– Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6-7 AM

– Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 PM

– Saturdays from 9-10 AM

If you need additional information on how to fast, please go to www.hpfc.org/21-days-of-prayer/

Third, starting about mid-January you’ll be able to see our Spring Small Groups on the website and choose one to be a part of this Spring. The information will be on our Small Groups page when available. Small Groups are a great way to meet people, grow in God, and make friends.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10 AM!

At the Movies

By | Blog, Family | No Comments

Most of us enjoy a great movie!

In fact, if movies had been available in Jesus’ day, I think He might have used them to share the Good News of His Kingdom.

So for five weeks we are going to using movies to highlight spiritual truths. We call the series, At the Movies. Each message will use a different movie to illustrate truths from God’s Word. We invite you to come to this series!

We will use movies based on true events, movies that are inspirational, and a movie that is simply a lot of fun.

There will also be fun extras that you don’t normally experience on Sunday morning. And each service will include dynamic worship and great spiritual truths from the Bible as illustrated by the movies. So invite your friends and come expecting God to work in your life.

It all begins Sunday, November 6 at 10 AM, we will learn and have a lot of fun together!

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10 AM!

Back to school season and the beginning of school can be a challenging time in many ways.

There are the extra expenses, the clothing and supplies, plus getting the family in the flow of new schedules.

So beginning Sunday, October 9 at 10 AM, we will be sharing a series called Life.Money.Hope. Life doesn’t always go as planned, and we often face unexpected highs and lows. God’s Word shows us a better way that gives us hope no matter our circumstances.

In this series we will look at how to live beyond the numbers and how to get past tough financial challenges.. Financial experts often provide great, practical advice. God’s Word gives principles that can help take our lives to whole new levels of hope.

This is a great series to attend as it will be encouraging, practical and you will leave with specific steps you can take.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10 AM!

You Asked

By | Blog, Church Life, Family, Spiritual Growth | No Comments

Sometimes it seems like we are about to drown in our challenges!

Although there are often no easy solutions, we believe the Bible does provide very practical insights that can help us live every day a bit better! So back on Easter Sunday we asked those in attendance to tell us the they would most like to hear about in the fall. The result was the You Asked series beginning on August 28 at our new service time of 10 AM.

In this series each week we will take a look at challenging topics such as family essentials, copying with loss, forgiveness, dealing with difficult people, finding God’s will and handling stress.

This is a great series to attend as it will be encouraging, practical and you will leave with specific steps you can take in each area.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10 AM!

Get Closer to God…21 Days of Prayer

By | Blog, Church Life, Spiritual Growth, Stories | No Comments

How close are you to God right now?

This is your time to get closer to God! I want to invite you to get close to God through our 21 Days of Prayer. Each August we focus on renewing our connection to God through this special season of prayer. This year the 21 Days of Prayer go from July 31 – August 20.

The reason you can get closer to God is because of a simple promise He has given us. God tells us in James 4:8 – “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” (NLT) So if we make any effort to draw closer to God, we will find He is already closer than we thought.

What are you waiting for? Let’s get closer to God!

How Do I Get Close To God?

We are going to help you discover how simple it is during our next message series called Closer! This series will explore some of the ways we can come closer to God. We invite you to come this Sunday! During the service you will enjoy the upbeat music and practical Bible message! And your kids will have a great time learning about God in our clean and safe children’s classes!

An Opportunity to Get Close To God!

We invite you to come Pray and Worship with us at the special prayer time listed here.

I hope to see you this Sunday and in our special prayer times as we closer to God!

Giants!

By | Blog, Church Life, Spiritual Growth, Stories | No Comments

Are you running from the giants or with the giants?

As we journey through life, we all face giants…something that appears to keep us from where God is trying to take us! Your giant might be debt, a troubled marriage, difficulty in raising your children, job challenges or many other things. In fact, sometimes the giants are people who seem to to be trying to block us from a better future.

When we face these giants it is easy to get intimidated in our thoughts. We can think things like “I’ll never get this debt paid off”. Left unchecked, our thoughts can become more of a barrier to progress than the actual giant!

Often these thoughts become so overwhelming that we look for a way out…any way out. And so we start to run. We run away from confronting the giants in our lives. Instead of facing our fears, our lack of knowledge in some area, or any other giant…we run. We run from the giants!

God has better for you!

What if you could learn from some men and women who were giants of faith? What if instead of running from your giants you could run with these great people of faith? What if you could learn from their successes and failures? Would it make a difference and could you draw encouragement from their stories?

I think the answer is yes!

So I invite you to our message series, Running With The Giants, beginning Sunday, April 24 at 10:30 AM. During the service you will enjoy the upbeat music and practical Bible message! And your kids will have a great time learning about God in our clean and safe children’s classes!

I hope to see you this Sunday!
